Ballet
Ballet is considered the foundation of artistic dance. Students learn fundamental ballet technique through barre work, center exercises, and across the floor combinations. Classes focus on technique, proper body alignment, terminology, coordination, flexibility, endurance, and musicality.
Lyrical/Contemporary
Lyrical/Contemporary dance is a beautiful blend of ballet, modern and jazz dance. It is a fluid form of dance done to popular ballads and slower contemporary music. Students are taught to interpret his or her movement with feeling, motion, and style. This style combines the fluid beauty of ballet with the sharp moves in jazz. You become the story through dancing and create the picture of the song.
Jazz
Jazz is sharp with fluid movements to create a visually technical dance and style. This form of dance uses a wide range of music. Body isolations, stretching, turning, leaping and technical steps are taught in this class. Students will learn various forms of movement and jazz terminology.
Acro
Encourages coordination, spatial awareness, and fine and gross motor skills. The classes include many strength and flexibility drills to allow our students to perform skills safely and correctly. Students will increase their strength and flexibility and learn a variety of tumbling and gymnastics skills.
ESI
Endurance/Strength/Injury Prevention: This class will provide student athletes with the knowledge, motivation, confidence, and the training necessary to reach their athletic potential while minimizing the risk of injury by adequately preparing for the demands of competition. It will set a foundation of movement and progress each athlete using the core lifts, plyometric exercises, and conditioning methods. The program will address power, strength, speed, agility, conditioning, mobility, and injury prevention.
Pointe
All of our Pointe classes are by invitation only. Each student needs to be evaluated by the staff of the studio before entering into a Pointe class. We take the dancer's safety very seriously and encourage strength-training programs specified by our instructors for each dancer individually.
Leaps and Turns/Workout
This is a class designed for the dancer who wishes to perfect and refine their skills of turning, jumping, and leaping. These classes are taught with an emphasis on technique and correct body placement. They are taught in a progressive manner beginning with the basics and advancing to high level skills and combinations of those skills. The strength and conditioning is designed to build stamina and condition the body for difficult tricks and aerobic requirements needed for dancing.
Stretch and Tricks
These classes mostly focus on stretching for flexibility, and tricks for competition dance. In this class students will develop the strength to manage flexibility in order to help prevent injuries and attain the best flexibility possible. Students will learn the newest and hottest tricks in the industry today.
Tap
Tap dance is a lively art form. It is a form of dance by using the shoe, as well as the floor, as a percussive instrument. Tap allows a dancer to express themselves through their feet and many different variations of steps and rhythms. It is a story of the feet.
Musical Theatre
Musical Theatre class will focus on learning proper dance technique while exploring the various dance styles used in Broadway shows. This class is devoted to the enjoyment of musical theatre and an appreciation for Broadway musical productions. In this class students will tell a story with words and music.
Hip Hop
This is a fast moving and high energy class. Hip Hop includes a lot of footwork, radical movement and emphasis placed on musicality. It will teach the student the newest movements that you see in many music videos and other professional performances.
