Dance Class FAQ for Parents: Kinetic Dance Force, Winter Springs
Kinetic Dance Force is a youth dance studio in Winter Springs, FL, with classes for ages 2-18. Here are short answers to the questions parents ask most, with links to the details.
What age can my child start dance at KDF?
Children can start at age 2 with Tiny Dance, our class for ages 2-4 that covers ballet and creative movement. Kinetic Dance Force offers classes for all ages through age 18.
Which class is right for my child's age?
KDF arranges classes by five age groups: Tiny Dance (ages 2-4), Mini (ages 4-6), Petite (ages 7-9), Junior (ages 9-12), and Teen/Senior (ages 13-18). View our classes to see the styles offered in each group. Teachers may recommend moving your dancer up or down based on experience.
What is the difference between recreational classes and KDF Company?
Recreational classes meet once a week and are open to all dancers. KDF Company is a competitive performance team for dancers who want to train at a higher level, perform throughout the season, and attend competitions. Learn more about both options.
What is The Mini Force?
The Mini Force is an introduction to KDF Company designed for dancers ages 3-6 with a lighter time commitment than the full Company. Dancers build technique and confidence while learning what it means to be part of a performing team. Find out more.
How does the free trial work?
New students can take one complimentary trial class with no login or account needed. Fill out our online form to receive your Free Trial Pass by email. Learn more about the trial and get started.
Can parents watch class?
Parents can watch class on the TVs in the KDF office during the first week of each month. For Tiny Dance and Tiny Tumbling, parents can stay in the room or watch from the office TV. We work with families to make sure every child feels comfortable.
What does my child wear to class?
Each dance style has its own dress code. Ballet requires pink tights, a black leotard, and ballet shoes. Hip Hop calls for comfortable clothes and clean sneakers. For all classes, hair must be neatly secured away from the face. See the complete dress code.
When does the season run, and when is the recital?
Classes run from Monday, August 10, 2026, through Thursday, June 10, 2027. The annual recital is Saturday, June 12, 2027, and the venue will be announced. Every recreational class learns a routine for the recital, and participation is optional.
Are recital costumes extra?
Yes, costumes are ordered in the fall and are a separate fee from tuition. See Rates and Policies for costume amounts and payment dates.
How do I register, and what if we miss a class?
Registration happens through the Studio Director parent portal. If your child misses a class, you can make it up within one month in another class your instructor recommends. Tuition is not prorated for missed classes. See Rates and Policies for more details.
Can my child take more than one style, and are classes open to boys?
Yes to both. Dancers can combine several styles, and every class welcomes boys and girls. Each class meets once a week. Private lessons and choreography are also offered if you want to explore more.
Can we join in the middle of the season?
Absolutely. New dancers can join any time when a class has space. We recommend starting with a free trial class so your dancer can meet the instructors and make sure the style is a good fit.
