What to Expect in Recreational Dance Classes for Kids

3 min read

Recreational dance classes let children learn the styles they enjoy without an audition or a competition schedule. Kinetic Dance Force in Winter Springs, Florida offers recreational classes for ages 2-18, grouped by age, and each class meets once a week. Every recreational class learns a routine for the June recital, and you can watch class on the TVs in the KDF office during the first week of each month.

How often do classes meet?

At Kinetic Dance Force, each recreational class meets once a week on the same day all season. The 2026-27 season runs from Monday, August 10, 2026 through Thursday, June 10, 2027. Your child can take one class per week, or combine several styles (for example, Ballet on Tuesday and Hip Hop on Monday). See the schedule to find what fits your family's calendar, or browse all classes to see all options.

What happens in the first class?

Your child joins the class with the instructor and the other dancers in the age group. Bring the Free Trial Pass you received by email with you to class. Dress for the style, with hair secured, as listed in the dress code below.

What should my child wear?

Dress code varies by dance style to help dancers move safely and freely. At Kinetic Dance Force, requirements depend on the class. For Tiny Dance (ages 2-4), your child wears any leotard and tights, or shorts and an athletic top, with shoes for the style. For Ballet, a black leotard, pink tights, ballet shoes, and a bun are needed. Hip Hop requires comfortable clothes and clean sneakers. Acro uses shorts and an athletic top or leotard, with bare feet. Hair should be secured for every class. See the dress code page for all styles and details.

Can parents watch class?

Yes. At Kinetic Dance Force, you can watch your child on the TVs in the KDF office during the first week of each month. If your child is in Tiny Dance or Tiny Tumbling (ages 2-4), you have the choice to stay in the room with your child or watch from the office TV, depending on what helps your child feel comfortable.

Is there a recital?

Yes, every recreational class at Kinetic Dance Force learns a routine for the June recital throughout the season. The 2027 recital is Saturday, June 12, 2027, with dress rehearsal Friday, June 11, 2027. Participation is optional: if your child will not perform, tell the studio before costumes are ordered in the fall. Picture Day with Aspire Multimedia is May 26-27, 2027. The venue will be announced.

What if we miss a class?

At Kinetic Dance Force, if your child misses a class, you can make it up within one month in another class the instructor recommends. Tuition is not prorated for a missed class or holiday. Check the season calendar to see all scheduled closures.

How do tuition and costumes work?

At Kinetic Dance Force, tuition is a monthly flat rate based on the number of classes your child takes, billed automatically on the 1st of each month. Costumes for the recital are ordered separately in the fall and carry a separate fee. To drop a class, email info@kdanceforce.com with 30 days written notice. See Rates and Policies for full tuition and costume details.
